Miles for Marybeth, an annual 38-mile bicycle ride, will start on August 5 2023 in multiple locations. Supporters of those whose lives have been touched by Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) will participate in this annual event to mark World ARDS Awareness Day, 08/08. The funds raised at this event will aid the ARDS Alliance’s mission: a group dedicated to promoting and furthering charitable, education and scientific opportunities for the advancement of awareness, research and to improve the quality of life for all those affected by Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
Marybeth Monaghen, the inspiration for this event, was just 36 years old when she passed away from ARDS. She was the eldest of four children, a nurse, a daughter and a beloved sister.
The ride will be led by two people whose lives have been deeply affected by ARDS: Risk Bressler and Paula Monaghen Blonski. Rick is a survivor of ARDS, CoVID-19, and is a double lung transplant recipient, who is committed to showing that there is a good life to be lived post-transplant. Paula, President of the ARDS Alliance, is Marybeth’s loving sister who is committed to increasing awareness for ARDS, and help others affected by ARDS.
