In Memoriam
Sumita Dixit, a founding board member and champion of the work of the ARDS Alliance organization, passed away due to ARDS complications on October 14, 2022. Sumita’s immense contributions were vast and unwavering.
As a diplomat living in the Netherlands with her husband and two young children, Sumita was an ARDS and ECMO survivor who was grateful for every moment she was given and used her experience to help others in similar circumstances: improving people’s understanding of trauma and increasing awareness by medical professionals of what critical care patients need. Her empathy and advocation for others was not only stoic but demonstrated the utmost strength. The loss that we feel is immeasurable, but so is the love that she left behind.
